Membership Requirements Admission is open to individuals who host or contribute on a regular basis to a recognized podcast. Members can also be involved with other broadcast or print outlets, but the primary involvement with film criticsm MUST be through podcasting. If the podcast is hosted by more than one person, each individual host must apply for individual membership, and the same critera apply. Members will be required to submit votes for the year-end PFCA Awards and to post synopsis of reviews, interviews and essays on the podcasts' accompanying website or blog, and to post links to all podcasts through the PFCA. There is no fee for membership, which is open to podcasters working in any language and publishing from any country around the world. A "recognized podcast" is defined as a podcast that has at least 50 total shows available at the time of application, is at least 30 minutes in length, and that publishes a minimum of 25 new podcasts per year, with new episodes available on a regular basis with a maximum 14 day window between podcasts. Said podcasts must be originally created for web distribution, must be an all-inclusive film-related show or specified film-review show, and cannot be a topic-specific podcast (i.e., podcasts devoted to one subject, such as Star Wars, Firefly, Harry Potter, etc), or a podcast of a film series previously aired on another outlet such as a local radio or television station or national network such as NPR Recognized podcasts are also required to have and maintain a fully functional website or blog which is updated at least once every two weeks. Members are required to indicate in the podcast show notes the contents of each podcast episode, and are also encouraged to publish print reviews of all films reviewed on the associated podcast. If individual films are reviewed within the podcast, this should be indicated in the show notes - reviews can be of current films, classic films, or dvd releases, and must indicate the reviewer's name(s) or handle. A minimum of 40 full length reviews of films currently in theatrical release must be included in the qualifying podcast or published on the podcasts' associated website or blog each year in order to maintain qualified membership. Membership applications may be submitted by qualifying sites once the film-related podcast has reached a total of 50 episodes and meets all other membership criteria. Podcasters who wish to apply for membership should send their full contact data: name, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail. podcast feed and the URL(s) where their podcasts and adjoining reviews are published. This information should be sent to admin@pfcaonline.org. Once a podcaster becomes an accredited member of PFCA, members must display the PFCA member seal on the front page of their podcasts' associated website, preferably "above the fold". Only members of PFCA may display the 150 x 150 member seal. Anyone displaying the member seal who is not an acknowledged member of PFCA will be asked to remove the seal immediately under threat of possible prosecution. |
